About the Book

Every year since 1977, the people of Flint, Michigan join together in a celebration of pure human endeavor in the Crim Festival of Races. The premier international ten-mile road race has grown from 576 brave souls in the inaugural race, to almost 7000 participants in recent years. The ten-mile event has been joined by a variety of shorter running, walking, and children's races to become the biggest weekend family festival in the greater Flint area, with almost 14,000 entrants in the lineup of events.

Running the Crim - Stories from the Coolest Race In Michigan is a collection of heartwarming and inspirational stories written by people just like you. Runners and walkers describe the Crim experience and how it changed their lives. The book contains over thirty stories and a thirty-two page color photo section of images from the Crim Festival of Races. The photo section also includes Crim T-shirt art from 1977 to 2004. There is a brief introduction focusing on the history of the Bobby Crim 10 Mile Road Race for Special Olympics and the evolution of the race over time. The book ends with a bonus chapter on the health benefits of running and walking following the runner's inspirational stories. You'll find answers about the Crim, running, walking, and training in this collection, all written by people who tackled the Crim for a wide variety of reasons. In the end, they all swear by the Crim and its benefits. If they can do it, you can too.

The book was inspired by the editor's own experience with the Crim Training Program featuring the "Galloway Method" of training proven successful for thousands of former coach potatoes. Many of the stories in the book highlight the transformational power of the training program, the largest of its kind in the world. The book was written to celebrate the benefits of stepping out of your comfort zone and into a healthier lifestyle anchored by routine exercise. The motivation you need to get off the couch is in these stories written by ordinary people who achieved the extraordinary by believing in themselves. Step out of the rat race and into the Crim experience.
